Search for an "ICICI Bank loan for business" and you mostly land on one product: the unsecured Business Instalment Loan sold through ICICI's retail lending arm. But ICICI also runs a business-banking desk with instant overdrafts, GST-based working capital, government-guaranteed MSME loans and secured limits up to ₹75 crore. This guide maps all of them using only what ICICI publishes on icici.bank.in, read on 9 October 2026 — rates, the range it disclosed for July to September, fees, eligibility and documents — and sets the main terms against HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank. It is a neutral explainer, not a recommendation.

Quick answer

ICICI's Business Instalment Loan is unsecured, up to ₹50 lakh, priced at 13.00%–17.50% a year on its rate page (MCLR 8.40% plus a spread), with a processing fee of up to 2% of the loan + GST. For working capital, InstaOD gives up to ₹50 lakh unsecured, and secured or CGTMSE limits are capped at up to repo rate + 6.0% and up to repo rate + 6.50% respectively.

  • ICICI disclosed a range of 13.00%–17.50% (mean 15.45%) on Business Instalment Loans for July–September 2026

  • Eligibility: 3 years in business; proprietors, firms, LLPs, companies and professionals can apply

  • Foreclosure: 3% of principal outstanding (nil after 24 EMIs); nil for Udyam-registered MSEs up to ₹50 lakh after the first EMI

  • Repo is 5.50%, so the secured cap works out to 11.50% and the CGTMSE cap to 12.00% today

ICICI's loans for business at a glance

ICICI's business lending splits into two channels that most aggregator pages blur. The Business Instalment Loan (BIL) sits under ICICI's personal-loan pages and behaves like one: an unsecured lump sum, fixed EMIs, a decision driven by your credit report, bank statements and tax returns. The business-banking products — InstaOD, secured overdrafts, GST-based working capital, SuperBiz, term loans and CGTMSE loans — are relationship lending through a current account, priced as a spread over the RBI repo rate and renewed every year.

ProductWhat it isAmount (as published)
Business Instalment LoanUnsecured term loan with fixed EMIsUp to ₹50 lakh
InstaODDigital, collateral-free overdraft on a current accountUp to ₹50 lakh (₹25 lakh new to bank)

Working Capital basis GST returnsOD, LC or bank guarantee assessed from GST returns, against property or FDsUp to ₹5 crore
SuperBizWorking capital and term loans on combined cash flows and property of applicant and co-applicants₹10 lakh to ₹40 crore
CGTMSE loansCollateral-free working capital and term loans for MSEs with a government guaranteeGuarantee cover up to ₹10 crore
Stand-Up India, Agri Infrastructure FundGovernment-scheme loansAs per scheme

Overall, ICICI says its business-banking desk offers working capital and term facilities of up to ₹75 crore. It also finances commercial vehicles, equipment and property, which have their own terms and aren't covered in detail here. Our loan against property guide covers that route across banks.

The Business Instalment Loan

This is the product most people mean. ICICI describes it as a collateral-free loan for self-employed individuals and business entities to expand, upgrade equipment or fund other business needs, repaid in equal monthly instalments. The headline features are simple: up to ₹50 lakh, no security, a processing fee of up to 2% plus GST, and a tenure that ICICI's FAQ ties to who you are — up to 60 months for doctors, 48 months for professionals such as chartered accountants and company secretaries, and 36 months for other businesses.

Interest rates and the disclosed range

ICICI's rate page shows the BIL priced between 13.00% and 17.50% a year. It builds that from its 1-year MCLR of 8.40% plus a spread of 4.60% to 9.10%. The same page discloses the range of rates for the period July to September 2026: a minimum of 13.00%, a maximum of 17.50% and a mean of 15.45%. ICICI explains APR on the page — the annual cost of credit including interest and all other charges — but does not publish an APR figure, unlike HDFC Bank, which disclosed an average APR alongside its interest-rate range.

There is one inconsistency to note. The BIL product page, read the same day, says rates run from 13.25% to 19.25%, and markets the loan as having fixed rates, while the rate page describes an MCLR-linked build-up. We report both as published. The figure that binds you is the one in your sanction letter and Key Facts Statement, so ask whether your rate is fixed for the tenure or linked to MCLR and reset periodically.

The rate you get depends, in ICICI's words, on your customer segment, asset category and location. In practice that means your credit score, how long you have banked with ICICI, your turnover and profit trend, your industry and city. The bank's own FAQ suggests the usual levers: a better credit score, a co-applicant and a shorter tenure.

Fees and charges

ICICI publishes one fee schedule covering personal loans, Business Instalment Loans and salary overdrafts. All amounts are before GST.

ChargeAmount
Processing feeup to 2% of the loan + GST (non-refundable)
Foreclosure / prepayment3% of principal outstanding (nil after 24 EMIs)
MSE foreclosure waiverNil once the first EMI is paid, for BIL up to ₹50 lakh to micro and small enterprises with a Udyam certificate
Part payment3% if the loan is up to 24 months old; nil after that
Loan cancellationNil within 15 days of disbursal (fee not refunded); ₹2,500 after
EMI bounce₹500
Late payment (penal)5% a year on the overdue EMI
Non-maintenance of repayment mode₹800
Repayment mode swap₹500

Two details matter for business borrowers. First, the MSE waiver: if your business is a micro or small enterprise and you submit your Udyam Registration Certificate, foreclosing a BIL of up to ₹50 lakh costs nothing once you've paid the first EMI. Medium enterprises don't get it, so update your Udyam registration before you sign. Second, ICICI relaxed its part-payment rules for loans from 1 January 2026: you can now prepay in parts as often as you like in a year, with a minimum of one EMI, and without first paying an EMI. For older loans, each part payment had to be at least three EMIs.

Eligibility and documents

ICICI's published criteria for the Business Instalment Loan are short. Your business must have run for at least three years. Eligible borrowers are proprietorships, partnerships, LLPs, private and public limited companies, and self-employed professionals — doctors, chartered accountants, company secretaries, architects and cost accountants — provided they meet income and practice-stability norms. ICICI says eligibility turns on business financials, GST filings, ITRs and the type of business. It does not publish a minimum turnover or age band for the BIL, unlike HDFC and Kotak, which both state a ₹40 lakh turnover floor.

Documents ICICI lists for a Business Instalment Loan

0/6

For InstaOD, the bar is different: a credit score above 725, at least two years in business and either a year of bank statements or GST returns. Existing ICICI current-account holders apply in the InstaBIZ app or corporate net banking with no physical paperwork; new customers fetch statements through their PAN and open a current account by video KYC. Our business loan documents checklist has the full list by business type.

Working capital through business banking

If you need a revolving limit rather than a lump sum, ICICI's business-banking products are usually the better fit, because you pay interest only on what you draw.

InstaOD is ICICI's fastest route: up to ₹50 lakh for existing current-account customers and ₹25 lakh for new ones, set up for 12 months, with a 2% processing fee and no foreclosure charge. It is unsecured and fully digital, which makes it useful for seasonal stock or a delayed receivable. ICICI also offers a smaller purpose-based overdraft of up to ₹15 lakh for GST and tax payments.

Working Capital basis GST returns offers up to ₹5 crore as an overdraft, letter of credit or bank guarantee, assessed from your GST returns rather than audited financials. Despite the name, it is secured: ICICI lists residential, commercial or industrial property and fixed deposits as collateral. Instant Secured Overdraft gives existing customers ₹15 lakh to ₹3 crore against property, vacant land or FDs, and SuperBiz combines the cash flows, credit history and property of the applicant and co-applicants for facilities of ₹10 lakh to ₹40 crore, including cash credit, bill discounting and export finance.

What business-banking loans cost

ICICI's business-banking schedule doesn't publish a single rate. It publishes ceilings linked to the RBI repo rate: up to repo rate + 6.0% for secured facilities and up to repo rate + 6.50% for facilities backed by CGTMSE, both for loans outside priority-sector lending. With repo at 5.50% as of October 2026, those caps work out to 11.50% and 12.00%. The bank says the actual rate depends on its assessment of the business, financials, amount and tenure. Processing is up to 2% plus GST, letters of credit and guarantees carry up to 2% a year in commission, and foreclosure is nil for micro and small enterprises.

Because these rates are repo-linked, they move when the RBI moves. The October 2026 policy raised repo by 25 basis points, so expect floating business-banking rates to rise by about that much at your next reset. Under the RBI's 2025 pre-payment directions, banks may not charge pre-payment penalties on floating-rate loans to micro and small enterprises sanctioned or renewed from 1 January 2026.

CGTMSE and government-scheme loans

For micro and small enterprises without collateral, ICICI lends under the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises. The government trust guarantees a share of the loan, so the bank can lend working capital or term loans without property; ICICI lists guarantee cover of up to ₹10 crore and asks for KYC, bank statements no more than 45 days old, proof of business continuity and ITRs. You pay CGTMSE's annual guarantee fee on top of interest, so include it in your cost comparison. Our CGTMSE guide explains the fee slabs and how cover works.

ICICI also lends under Stand-Up India, for first-time SC/ST and women entrepreneurs setting up a new enterprise, and under the Agri Infrastructure Fund for post-harvest projects. Both follow the scheme's own terms; see our Stand-Up India guide.

A worked example: ₹20 lakh unsecured

Take an illustrative Pune trader with four years of GST returns who borrows ₹20 lakh as a Business Instalment Loan over 36 months. Using ICICI's disclosed July–September mean of 15.45%:

  • EMI: about ₹69,772 a month
  • Total interest: about ₹5.12 lakh
  • Processing fee: 2% = ₹40,000, plus 18% GST = ₹47,200
  • Effective APR including the fee: roughly 17.2% — the fee alone adds about 1.7 percentage points on a three-year loan

At the bottom of the disclosed range, 13.00%, the EMI falls to about ₹67,388 and total interest to about ₹4.26 lakh; at the top, 17.50%, the EMI rises to about ₹71,804 and interest to about ₹5.85 lakh. The gap between the cheapest and dearest borrower in the same quarter is about ₹1.6 lakh on this loan — which is why your credit score and banking history matter so much.

For comparison, if the same business could offer the limit as a CGTMSE-backed or secured facility at the current cap of 12.00%, the EMI on a ₹20 lakh, 36-month term loan would be about ₹66,429 and interest about ₹3.91 lakh, before the guarantee fee or any collateral costs.

What the table suggests: ICICI's published band is the narrowest, and its top rate is lower than the others' — useful if your profile is middling. But its ceiling of ₹50 lakh is the lowest, so a business needing ₹75 lakh to ₹2 crore unsecured will have to look at HDFC, Kotak or Axis, or move to a CGTMSE-backed facility. If you already bank with ICICI, InstaOD can be faster and cheaper than a term loan for short-term needs.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Comparing headline rates instead of APR. A loan at 14% with a 2% fee plus GST can cost more than one at 14.5% with a 0.5% fee over a short tenure. Ask every bank for the Key Facts Statement, which RBI rules require to show the APR and the full repayment schedule.

Skipping Udyam. Without a Udyam certificate on file, you lose ICICI's foreclosure waiver for MSEs and may pay 3% to close the loan early.

Taking a term loan for a working-capital gap. If you need money for 60 days of stock, an overdraft charges interest only on what you use; a 36-month BIL charges it on the whole amount from day one.

Ignoring rate resets. If your loan is MCLR- or repo-linked, an RBI rate rise feeds through at the next reset. Ask how often your rate resets and model the EMI 50 basis points higher.

Paying an agent. ICICI's application routes are its website, the InstaBIZ app, branches and customer care on 1800 1080. Any third party demanding a fee to "guarantee approval" is a red flag.

Applying for an ICICI business loan

  1. 1

    Choose the product

BIL for an unsecured lump sum up to ₹50 lakh; InstaOD for short-term working capital; GST-based, Secured OD or SuperBiz if you can offer property; CGTMSE if you're an MSE without collateral.

  2. 2

    Check your credit report

Pull your CIBIL report and fix errors first; InstaOD needs a score above 725.

  3. 3

Apply online, in the app or at a branch

Use the Apply Now form on the product page, the InstaBIZ app or corporate net banking for existing customers, or a branch.

Check the APR, whether the rate is fixed or MCLR/repo-linked, fees, insurance, foreclosure and penal charges before you sign.

After the loan is disbursed

Once the money is in, a few habits keep the loan cheap. Keep the repayment account funded a day or two before the EMI date: a bounce costs ₹500 plus GST, the overdue amount attracts the 5% penal charge, and both land on your credit report, which ICICI and every other lender will see at your next application. If your cash flow improves, use the relaxed part-payment rules on loans from January 2026 to prepay in small chunks — but time it: part payments cost 3% while the loan is up to 24 months old and nothing after that, so on a 36-month loan the cheapest window to prepay is from month 25. Ask for the amortisation schedule and a prepayment statement through net banking rather than at a branch, where physical copies cost ₹200 each.

For overdrafts, remember that InstaOD and other business-banking limits are typically set up for 12 months and reviewed at renewal. The bank looks at how you used the limit — whether the account was regularly overdrawn beyond it, whether credits into the account kept pace with your turnover, and whether GST returns were filed on time. A limit that is used sensibly and renewed cleanly is the easiest route to a larger one later.

If something goes wrong after disbursal, use ICICI's three-level grievance process first. If the complaint isn't resolved within 30 days or you're unhappy with the reply, you can take it to the RBI Ombudsman through cms.rbi.org.in.

What to do next

Decide whether you need a lump sum or a revolving limit, check which ICICI product your vintage and collateral fit, and get Key Facts Statements from ICICI and at least one other lender for the same amount and tenure. Run the numbers in our EMI calculator and loan eligibility calculator, and if your need is really working capital, size it with the working capital calculator first.
