Banks, buyers and scheme officers keep asking for "your Udyam certificate", and the most common reason people can't produce it is not the download itself — it's a forgotten Udyam number, a mobile number that no longer works, or an agent website that got there first in the search results. This guide shows you how to download the Udyam registration certificate free from the official portal in 2026, how to recover a forgotten number by mobile or email, what to do when both are lost, how to update your details, and how the annual ITR/GST update changes what your certificate shows. Every step was checked on the portal in October 2026.

Quick answer

Go to udyamregistration.gov.in → Print/Verify → Print Udyam Certificate, enter your Udyam number and the mobile number from your application, verify the OTP and print or save the certificate as PDF. Forgot the number? Use Forgot Udyam/UAM Number and verify with the registered mobile or email — the portal shows every Udyam number linked to it.

  • Free — fee Free; no agent needed

  • You need the Udyam number + registered mobile (OTP to mobile or email)

  • No PAN- or Aadhaar-based recovery exists on the portal

  • Lost both mobile and email? Contact your DIC or the MSME Champions helpdesk

  • Download a fresh copy after each annual ITR/GST update

How to download the Udyam registration certificate

The certificate is an e-certificate: nothing is posted to you, and you can print it as often as you like. The Udyam number is 19 characters in the format UDYAM-XX-00-0000000 — "UDYAM", a two-letter state code, a two-digit district code and a seven-digit serial number. You'll also need the mobile number exactly as you filled it in the application, which may not be the one linked to your Aadhaar.

Download your Udyam certificate as PDF

  1. 1

    Open Print Udyam Certificate

On udyamregistration.gov.in, open the Print / Verify menu and click Print Udyam Certificate. It opens the Udyami Login page.

    Open Udyami Login
  2. 2

Enter the Udyam number and mobile

Type the Udyam number with hyphens (UDYAM-MH-26-0123456) and the 10-digit mobile number given in the application.

Tip: The portal rejects the number if the hyphens or letters are in the wrong place.

  3. 3

    Choose where the OTP goes

Pick OTP on Mobile or OTP on Email (both as filled in the application), type the case-sensitive verification code and click Validate & Generate OTP.

  4. 4

    Log in with the OTP

Enter the OTP and click Validate OTP & Login. Your dashboard opens.

  5. 5

    Print or save

Choose the print certificate option. When the certificate and its annexure open, use the browser's Print → Save as PDF. Allow pop-ups for the site if nothing opens.

What you get is a multi-page document: the certificate itself, with the enterprise name, type, major activity, social category, registration date and the year-by-year classification, followed by the annexure listing your units, official address, NIC activity codes and the DIC and MSME office you fall under. When someone asks for the "Udyam certificate with annexure", they mean this full printout — don't send only the first page. The certificate carries a dynamic QR code that opens the enterprise's page on the government portal, which is how a buyer or bank can confirm it's genuine.

Save the PDF somewhere you'll find it again — your email, a cloud folder and the company's document file. Many owners lose access precisely because the certificate and number were only ever stored on the phone of the agent or CA who registered them.

Downloading on a phone

Most owners now do this on a phone, and it works, with two adjustments. Open the portal in Chrome or Safari rather than inside a WhatsApp or Facebook in-app browser, which often blocks the print window. When the certificate opens, use the browser's Share → Print (Android) or Share → Print then pinch outward on the preview (iPhone) to save it as a PDF in your files. If the layout is cut off, switch the browser to "desktop site" and print again so the annexure pages aren't clipped.

One business, several units — still one certificate

An enterprise can hold only one Udyam registration, but any number of activities, manufacturing or services, and any number of plant locations can be added to it. If you've opened a second shop or factory, don't register again; log in through Update, add the unit and its address, and download the certificate again so the annexure lists both. Banks financing the new unit will want to see it on the annexure.

Forgot your Udyam registration number? Recover it by mobile or email

The portal's Forgot Udyam/UAM Number page is the only official way to recover a lost number, and it works with either the mobile number or the email ID filled in the application.

Step 1

Step 2

Choose Udyam + Mobile or Email

Step 5

Print Udyam Certificate

Open Print/Verify → Forgot Udyam/UAM Number. Choose Udyam Registration (or Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum if you're looking for an old UAM number), choose Mobile or Email, enter it exactly as you filled it in the application, and click Validate & Generate OTP. Once the OTP matches, the portal lists every registration linked to that contact — useful if a CA registered several family businesses with the same mobile. Note the number down, then go back to Print Udyam Certificate and download as above.

This is what people mean by "forgot Udyam registration by mobile number" and "Udyam certificate download by mobile number": you can't download directly with the mobile alone, but the mobile gets you the number, and the number plus mobile gets you the certificate, all in about five minutes.

Can you recover it by PAN or Aadhaar?

No. Many agent websites advertise "Udyam certificate download by PAN number" or "by Aadhaar", but the official portal has no such option; recovery and printing run on the Udyam number and the contact details from the application. Your PAN does matter in one way: an enterprise can hold only one Udyam registration, so registering again under the same PAN to get a "new" certificate is not the fix and leaves you with a duplicate problem to untangle. Look in the places your number usually turns up instead — earlier loan files, GeM or vendor-portal profiles, the bottom of old invoices, the email inbox used at registration, and your CA's records.

When the registered mobile and email no longer work

This is the hardest case: the OTP goes to a mobile that was disconnected or an email that the agent created and never handed over. Work through these in order.

SituationWhat to do
Mobile works, forgot numberForgot Udyam/UAM Number → Mobile OTP
Email works, mobile lostUse OTP on Email to recover the number and log in, then update the mobile
Old SIM disconnected but number still in your nameAsk your telecom operator for a duplicate SIM on the same number, then use mobile OTP
Agent or CA registered with their own mobile/emailAsk them for the OTP once, log in together and change the contact details to yours
Neither mobile nor email can be recoveredContact your District Industries Centre or the MSME Champions helpdesk with PAN, Aadhaar and proof of ownership

For the last case, the Udyam portal lists [email protected] and a grievance number on call or WhatsApp, +91 83088 09334, from Monday to Friday, 10 am to 6 pm. The District Industries Centre for your area — named on your certificate — can also help. Expect to show proof that you are the proprietor, partner, director or authorised signatory.

How to update your mobile, email and other details

Log in through Update/Cancel Udyam Registration, which uses the same Udyami Login page and OTP. You can then edit contact details, official address, bank account, NIC codes, employee numbers, units and social category, verify with OTP and submit. Download the certificate again afterwards so the copy you share matches the portal.

Your enterprise name and PAN-related details come from Income Tax records. If your firm's name has changed, update PAN records first and the Udyam details follow. And because the Udyam form is a self-declaration, knowingly misstating facts during registration or update can attract a fine under section 27 of the MSMED Act — up to ₹1,000 for a first conviction and ₹10,000 for later ones.

The annual ITR and GST update — why last year's PDF may be out of date

Paragraph 8 of the Udyam notification requires every registered enterprise to update its information online, including ITR and GST return details for the previous financial year. Classification is then updated from what you furnish and what the government pulls from ITR and GST data. If the category changes — up or down — the portal sends you a communication, and failure to update within the period the portal specifies can lead to suspension of your status.

That's why the certificate you printed two years ago may not be the one a bank will accept. An enterprise that moved from small to micro after the April 2025 limits — micro is now investment up to ₹2.5 crore and turnover up to ₹10 crore — needs a printout whose annexure shows the new category before it can claim micro-only benefits.

Worked example. A Coimbatore pump-parts maker registered in 2021 as small, with ₹14 crore turnover. After the 2025 revision its turnover of ₹9.5 crore in FY 2024-25 and investment of ₹2 crore put it within the micro limits. Its 2022 printout still says "small". When it applies for a scheme reserved for micro units in 2026, the officer checks the classification on the portal and the current annexure — so the owner logs in, confirms the ITR and GST figures, and downloads a fresh certificate showing "micro" for the latest year.

Check the annexure line by line after every download: the year-wise table should show a category for each financial year since you registered, and if the latest year is missing or looks wrong, log in and check whether an update is pending. Upward moves work differently: if your figures cross the limit, you keep your existing status until one year after the close of the year of registration, so a fresh download doesn't immediately cost you benefits. The detail is in our MSME classification guide.

Udyam Assist Certificate for informal micro units

Not every micro unit can register on the main Udyam form, which needs a PAN and, where applicable, a GSTIN. For informal micro enterprises — defined by the Ministry as those exempt from filing GST returns because of their turnover — the Ministry runs the Udyam Assist Platform (UAP), managed by SIDBI. You can't self-register there: a designated agency, which is an RBI-regulated lender such as a scheduled commercial bank or NBFC, registers you and the platform generates an Udyam Assist Certificate.

The RBI treats that certificate at par with the Udyam Registration Certificate for priority-sector lending, and enterprises holding it are classed as micro for that purpose. In practice, a street vendor, home-based tailor or small kirana that borrows from a bank or NBFC can ask the lender to register it on UAP and receive the certificate. If you later get a PAN and move into GST, register on the main Udyam portal for the full set of MSME benefits such as the delayed-payment protection.

Who asks for the certificate — and what they check

Knowing what the other side looks for saves a second round of emails. Banks use the classification recorded in your Udyam certificate to treat the loan as priority-sector MSME lending, so they check the category for the latest year and that the enterprise name matches the loan applicant. Large buyers check whether you're micro or small and a manufacturer or service provider, because only those suppliers are covered by the 45-day payment rule and the income-tax disallowance on late payments; traders' registrations don't carry that protection. Government tender committees check the registration date against the bid date and your NIC codes against the item being bought before granting EMD exemption or purchase preference. In each case they will usually verify the number on the portal rather than trust the PDF, so make sure the portal and your printout agree.

Old UAM certificates and the "Print UAM" option

The Print/Verify menu still has Print UAM Certificate and Verify Udyog Aadhaar, which confuses many owners. Those options exist for reference only. Udyog Aadhaar and EM Part-II registrations stopped being valid after the transition period, and an enterprise registered under them must register again on Udyam using UAM Migration to Udyam. A UAM printout won't be accepted by banks as proof of MSME status today. If the Forgot page shows you a UAM number but no Udyam number, you haven't migrated yet — see the Udyam registration guide.

Beware of fake Udyam sites

The portal's own banner warns users to beware of fake sites and says Udyam registration is free of cost and paperless. It also states that, apart from the government portal and government single-window systems, no private online or offline system, agency or person is authorised to do MSME registration or any related activity. In search results for "forgot Udyam registration" you'll still find sites offering "Udyam login help" for ₹299, look-alike domains, and link-in-bio pages styled as the portal.

Is this the real Udyam portal?

0/5

If you already paid an agent site, the certificate it sent you may still be genuine — it usually files the same free form. Verify the number on the portal's Verify Udyam Registration page, then make sure the registered mobile and email are yours by updating them.

Common download errors and fixes

  1. "Invalid Udyam number." Check the hyphens and the two-letter state code; type it rather than pasting from a WhatsApp image.
  2. OTP not arriving. The OTP goes to the mobile or email in the application, not necessarily your Aadhaar-linked number. Try the email option.
  3. Captcha rejected. The verification code is case-sensitive.
  4. Blank page when printing. Allow pop-ups for udyamregistration.gov.in or try another browser.
  5. Certificate shows an old category. Log in, complete the annual update if pending, and download again.

What to do next

Once you have the PDF, put the Udyam number on every invoice with the invoice generator so buyers know you're covered by the 45-day payment rule, and if a buyer pays late, work out the interest with the MSME delayed payment calculator. For what each field on the certificate means and the benefits it unlocks, read the MSME certificate guide; if you aren't registered at all yet, start with Udyam registration.
